शांतिपूर्ण सत्ता हस्तांतरण’ जो न तो शांतिपूर्ण था और न तो निरपेक्ष रूप से हस्तांतरण क्योंकि नेहरू की शपथ महारानी के प्रति के निष्ठावान बने रहने के लिए थी के विभिन्न उपायों एवं संभावनाओं को तलाशने के लिए अंग्रेजी शासन ने एक तीन सदस्यीय शिष्टमंडल भेजने की घोषणा की थी। यह कैबिनेट मिशन 24.03.1946 को भारत आकर भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस और ऑल इंडिया मुस्लिम लीग सहित अन्य प्रतिनिधियों के बातचीत की। आरंभिक बातचीत के बाद मिशन ने 16 मई 1946 को नई सरकार के गठन का प्रस्ताव रखा परंतु काँग्रेस के अगस्त 1946 मे जाकर अंतरिम सरकार मे शामिल होने का निर्णय लिया ताकि सत्ता हस्तांतरण की प्रक्रिया को सरल बनाया जा सके। परंतु मुस्लिम लीग अभी भी अपनी जिद पर अड़ि हुई थी। तब बातचीत के बाद वेवल ने 1 अगस्त, 1946 को कांग्रेस अध्यक्षपं. जवाहरलाल नेहरू को अंतरिम सरकार के गठन के लिए निमंत्रण दिया। पं. जवाहरलाल नेहरू 24 अगस्त, 1946 को भारत की पहली अंतरिम राष्ट्रीय सरकार की घोषणा की। इस अंतरिम सरकार मे भी मुस्लिम लीग की भागीदारी नहीं थी। आखिरकार 2 सप्टेंबर 1946 को जवाहरलाल नेहरू के साथ 11 अन्य सदस्यों के साथ अपने ...
